(WGTD)---WGTD Morning Edition local host Dave McGrath has written a book about Gene Pitney, the late singer whom he describes as "the most gifted pop male vocalist of his era.:"

The book--titled "Gene Pitney: The Singer, The Sons and The Songwriters"--- focuses in part on the material written for and by Pitney, and Dave's long association with the artist. Dave served as Gene's fan club coordinator and merchandiser, and viewed Pitney as a close friend and business partner.

Pitney died in 2006 at the age of 66 while on tour. He was in his prime between 1962 and 1967. In 2002, Pitney was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

WGTD Morning Show host Greg Berg spoke to his colleague about the book earlier this month. Click here for the full interview.
