Attack Ad Appears in Race for Kenosha County Executive

March 20, 2022 8p

(WGTD)---The first attack ad in the race for the non-partisan position of Kenosha County Executive is out, and it features heavy references to partisan politics and the 2020 riots in Kenosha.

Samantha Kerkman’s flyer ties what she calls—quote—“the failed Biden-Evers agenda” to Rebecca Matoska-Mentink. On the flip side, the flyer asserts---quote—“the liberal status quo has failed to keep us safe.” The words are printed over a photo of a building on fire in the aftermath of the Jacob Blake police shooting in 2020.

Kerkman is a long-time Assembly Republican while Matoskia-Mentink, who currently serves as Clerk of Courts, ran as a Democrat for the partisan position.

In response, Matoska-Mentink said nothing she’s done in her 20-plus years in county government has been partisan-based, and she accuses Kerkman of using a divisive campaign strategy.

The election is two weeks from Tuesday.

The incumbent, Jim Kreuser, is not seeking re-election.
