Kenosha Police are investigating the death of a five-month-old baby. Paramedics and police were summoned to an apartment in the 1900 blk. of 43rd St. for an unresponsive child at 9:15 Friday morning. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the Medical Examiner was called in. In a news release, the department said there is no threat to the public. This is at least the third death of a child that Kenosha police have investigated in the last six months. The death of a two-year-old boy at a home day care in late March resulted in a charge of 1st degree reckless homicide against a 23-year-old co-owner of the home. Then last month a couple was charged with concealing the death of their two-month-old baby by dumping the body in a field.

A Kenosha judge refused to lower bond for a 19-year-old woman who allegedly killed a 34-year-old man at his home in Kenosha in June of 2018 then set the house on fire. Chrystul Kizer's attorney said his client's case that she acted to protect herself and others was strengthened by the finding that Randall Volar had in his possession explicit photos and videos of multiple under-aged girls, and appeared in at least one video to be grooming them as prostitutes. Prosecutor Michael Graveley disputed the allegation that Volar was directly involved in human trafficking. Judge David Wilk refused the defense's request to lower bond from $1 million to $50,000, saying the character of the victim wasn't a factor in setting bail. On the other hand, the judge noted that Kizer was out on bond in another criminal case originating from Milwaukee when she allegedly shot Volar in the head in Kenosha. A March 2020 trial date has been set.
