UW-P Panel: "Power & Perception: Democracy, Enforcement & Trust in U.S. Courts"

Apr. 7, 2026 7:30a

(WGTD)---Some high-powered speakers will be at UW-Parkside next week to discuss new challenges faced by the courts, particularly the U.S. Supreme Court.

The event is funded by the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership.

It’ll be held Thursday evening Apr. 16th in the Student Center Ballroom. The program, which includes a dinner, is open to the public without charge.

UW-Parkside Political Science Prof. Jennifer Clemens framed the topic on The Morning Show last week. One facet includes ongoing conflicts between the three branches of government. "Particularly between the executive and judicial branches or the president and the court system," she noted. "And all of this is happening at a time when trust in courts is approaching record lows. Confidence in the U.S. Supreme Court has plummeted. And trust in government and government institutions continues to decline."

Panelists include political science professor Lee Epstein, Atlantic Senior Editor David Frum and author and New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg.

An RSVP is required to attend. The deadline is Apr. 8th.
