From WGTD News:
Racine Mayor Cory Mason has joined the chorus of officials nationwide who are calling for the renaming of buildings, streets and monuments that bear the name of Cesar Chavez, the disgraced farm labor leader who allegedly sexually abused women and girls when he was in his 40s. Chavez died in 1993 at the age of 66. Mason wants to rename the Cesar Chavez Community Center on Douglas Ave. after Delores Huerta. She co-founded the United Farm Workers alongside Chavez and spent decades as a union organizer. Mason calls the allegations against Chavez "deeply troubling." His renaming resolution will be introduced at a council meeting next month.
