COVID Vaccine Appointments Available in Kenosha Co. For Tues. & Wed.

Mar. 15, 2021 9:25p

(WGTD)---The last-minute addition of a third day of COVID vaccine appointments at Kenosha County's new mass vaccination clinic in the former Shopko building on 52nd St. led to dozens of open slots.

The open appointments were for Tuesday and Wednesday, and were accessible either through the county's COVID response hub or by calling, during business hours, 605-6799.

The appointments are available for people who either live, work or study in Kenosha County and fall into eligible categories, such as over 65, public-facing essential workers, teachers and daycare workers.

According to Kenosha County Public Health Dept. Dir. Jen Freiheit, the county received 300 more 'second' doses this week than last, for a total of 4,300 doses. Last week the clinic received a total of 4,000 doses and was open just Wednesday and Friday, in part because the building wasn't ready for occupancy earlier in the week.

This week the clinic will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Freiheit has said the county isn't scheduling more than a week in advance because of uncertainty over supplies.

Freiheit told WGTD News Monday night that one way or another the county anticipates using all of the vaccine it received this week.

Also on the COVID front, the Kenosha City Council voted 14-3 Monday night to extend its mask ordinance until May 27th.
