(WGTD)---The aftermath of a largely peaceful George Floyd protest Sunday became violent Sunday night, with reports of rocks and stones thrown at police and groups of people milling about and refusing to obey a curfew that went into effect in Kenosha County Sunday night at 8:30.

Deputies in riot gear were dispatched to one location, according to a scanner reports. National Guard troops were stationed in the city.

Damage was reported to at least one store. Soon's Sushi near Columbus Park reported on its Facebook page that someone tossed a molotov cocktail into the building. At Roosevelt Rd. and 22nd Ave., passersby put out a fire that was set at another business.

The demonstration earlier Sunday--peaceful enough--began at Reuther High School at about 4:30 then moved west to 39th Ave., then back east again, wrapping through the downtown area and heading west again on 52nd St.

Demonstrators on foot and in vehicles, horns honking, grew in number to around a-thousand, by one estimate.

There were at least two incidents where guns were allegedly aimed at protesters.

According to a live Facebook video stream, a man was taken into custody Sunday evening for pointing a gun at demonstrators.

Several hours earlier, the march stalled for a time near Roosevelt Elementary School when another resident purportedly appeared on his porch with a gun. The situation was defused before any violence broke out. Police were investigating.

The emergency curfew, declared in the city by Mayor Antaramian, is scheduled to expire at 7 a.m.

Metra announced that it was suspending all train service, including commuter trains between Kenosha and Chicago, because of regional unrest.
