Drag Racing Allegedly Played a Part in Silver Lake Fatality

June 15, 2020 2:30p

(WGTD)---A Twin Lakes man allegedly was drag racing, and driving as fast as 107 mph, when he slammed into another vehicle at Highway 50 and County Trunk "B" earlier this month, killing a 14-year-old boy. That's according to the criminal complaint that was filed Monday against Anthony Lagowski.

Bond for Lagowski was set at $1 million.

A pair of Twin Lakes brothers were in the car that was hit and split apart. The passenger, 14-year-old Dominic Boll-Flaig, died.  His brother, 21-year-old Tyler Boll-Flaig, was seriously injured. According to the complaint, the brothers had been delivering pizzas and were turning south onto 'B' when they were struck.

The complaint quotes a witness as saying two vehicles passed her car at a high rate of speed and were swerving in and out of traffic. Seconds later she came across the wreck.

A video camera at nearby Breezy Hill Nursery captured the crash and the seconds leading up to it. Investigators used the video to help them determine that Lagowski's Volkswagen convertible was traveling at 107 mph just before the collision. A deputy who examined the wreckage noted that the speedometer in the VW was stuck at 95 mph.

The charges that were filed against Lagowski Monday include second degree reckless homicide, operating while suspended and second degree reckless injury. A passenger in Lagowski's car was also seriously injured.

At last report, authorities were still looking for the driver of the second vehicle that had been racing. That car made it through the intersection unscathed and continued on without stopping.
