"Erotic Drip Sip-N-Paint' Goes Down the Drain

(WGTD)---Creative juices and wine may be the only things Tierra Mace envisioned flowing at her new “Sip-N-Paint” business in Kenosha’s mid-town neighborhood. But the name that Mace selected to grace the door of her proposed restaurant and bar had members of the Kenosha City Council pausing for thought Monday night as they considered her applications for liquor and cabaret licenses.

“Erotic Drip Sip-N-Paint” is what she chose—and what council members soundly rejected. "I don't want to see that name hanging on a sign in my hometown," said Alder Holly Kangas. She said she found it offensive while other council members made references to Kenosha's reputation in the '60s and '70s as a 'sin city'.

Mace struggled a bit Monday night to explain the name and concept. "Erotic Drip is just really focused on the name--it's a passion of painting and a chill mood--cool, relaxed vibes," she said. "It's just to bring in something different and fun other than just a bar." Mace said she envisioned serving soul food and supplementing the painting parties by offering a variety of other entertainment including jazz, comedy and karaoke.

Mace said she would have no problem changing the name of her venture.

The council’s concern over the possibility of a salacious element somehow entering in may not have been too far off the mark. A Google search turns up the existence of Sip-N-Paint businesses around the country that offer erotic-themed nights.

After additional problems rose over some technical aspects of Mace’s applications Monday night, the council voted down both. Officials said they hoped that Mace would return and file new applications once the issues are resolved.
