Hospital President and Director of Racine's Health Dept. Appear on Show

July 1, 2019 3:30p

(WGTD)---The president of Racine’s only hospital, and the head of the city’s health department, seem to be in complete agreement on where the gaps exist in the community’s health care system.

Kristin McManmon, president of Ascension All Saints, and Dottie-Kay Bowersox, Racine’s public health administrator, appeared together on this past Saturday’s Community Matters program on WGTD.

Identified by both as top priorities were expanding access to health care, addressing infant mortality issues and expanding mental health and dental services. And then McManmon noted there’s a much broader factor that affects health and falls under the category of "pre-determinants." They include such things as employment, education, crime impacts and access to transportation.

The pair made other news Saturday. McManmon said the hospital will hold another hometown "medical mission" next May, and Bowersox said plans are on schedule to establish a community health clinic at Julian Thomas Elementary.
