(WGTD)---It's been a rough seven days on the interstate in Racine and Kenosha counties, what with a couple rounds of snow and a frosty overnight glazing.
In Racine County early Sunday, a sheriff's dept. squad car was rear-ended and severely damaged as it was parked with emergency lights activated at an accident scene. The deputy was out of his vehicle at the time and wasn't injured. Neither was the 27-year-old Racine man who struck the squad.
A second accident in the same area sent two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries when their vehicle spun out of control and struck the median wall.
The accidents and icy conditions prompted a three-hour-long shutdown of the southbound lanes.
A 37-year-old man from South Carolina was arrested after he tried to drive around deputies blocking traffic. He was cited for drunk driving.
