Update: Joseph Madura was located and arrested by police in the early-morning hours of Dec. 31

(WGTD)---A Kenosha police officer suffered minor injuries after he was struck by a vehicle driven by a man he'd been trying to arrest.

32-year-old Joseph Madura then purportedly fled the scene and eluded other officers on a chase that ended in Illinois.  According to a news release, the vehicle Madura allegedly had been driving was recovered, but Madura remains on the run. He was last seen in Winthrop Harbor.

The incident began in the 5000 blk. of 34th Ave Thursday evening at about 5:30. The release says the officer--after being struck--was thrown onto the hood and then rolled off as the driver sped away. The officer was treated for injuries at the hospital and then released.

According to online court records, Madura is wanted for driving without a valid license and fleeing. Previous convictions for Madura include fleeing, burglary and car theft.

And just the day before Thursday night's incident, according to the release, Madura allegedly was the driver that eluded police in yet another chase.

Any one with information about Madura's whereabouts is asking to call Kenosha Police or Crime Stoppers--anonymously if they wish--at 262-656-7333.
