Racine Mayor John Dickert To Resign For New Post

Racine Mayor John Dickert is resigning to become the President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Great Lakes & St. Lawrence Cities Initiative. The announcement was made at a press conference at City Hall this morning. In a press release from the Initiative, Mayor Dicker said, “I am thrilled to step into this position with the Cities Initiative and work with a dynamic coalition of 128 other mayors to ensure the voice of the local government is part of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence decision making.” The group’s outgoing leader---David Ullrich---said, “Mayor Dickert has been a strong force in our organization for years and I am confident the positive presence of the Cities Initiative will continue under his leadership.”

Dickert was first elected mayor in May of 2009 to finish the term of Gary Becker who had resigned in January of that year after being charged with a number of felonies. Dickert was then re-elected in 2011 and 2015.

WGTD's Dave Cole is at the press conference and will file a story for the WGTD Midday News at Noon. We will also have more details on this story here on our WGTD website and our Facebook page.
