Rittenhouse Trial Pushed Back to Fall

Mar. 10, 2021 9:35a

(WGTD)---The Kyle Rittenhouse case may not go before a jury until late fall.

A new trial date of Nov. 1 was established in Kenosha Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder's courtroom Wednesday.

This, after attorneys for both Rittenhouse and the state requested more time to prepare. Matters involving the sharing of evidence and DNA testing remain, according to Assistant District Attorney Tom Binger.

Rittenhouse is the Illinois teen who fatally shot two people and wounded a third during the Jacob Blake protests last summer.

Responding to a question from the judge at Wednesday's brief hearing, Rittenhouse, who is out of jail on $2 million bond, said he had no problem with the delay.

Also Wednesday, a status hearing was scheduled for May 17th.
