Safe Zones Set Up For Internet-Related Face-to-Face Sales in Racine Area

Crime Stoppers of Racine County recently donated signs to enable the establishment of several internet purchase exchange locations in the greater Racine area.

The posted areas are all located either near police stations or Community Oriented Policing Houses. The locations all have 24-hour video surveillance.

The spots are designed to deter criminal activity that's commonly associated with on-line purchases and subsequent face-to-face sales. The locations can also be used for child custody exchanges.

According to a news release, the safe zones have already been set up at the Mt. Pleasant Police Dept on Campus Dr and at the Sturtevant Police Dept. on 89th St. In addition, a location has been established at the Lakeside Community Oriented Policing House on Mead St. Other sites are expected to be up soon at the both the Racine and Caledonia police departments.
