(WGTD)---A 33-year-old Racine man has been released from jail after allegedly creating a disturbance on Christmas Eve at the home of the mother of his children in the 1400 blk. of Chatham St.
Jaevuan Moton was charged Friday with endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct. A $2,500 bond was ordered.
According to the allegations in the criminal complaint:
Police were dispatched on "multiple" reports reports of a drunk man firing shots into the air. A caller reported hearing glass breaking.
The first arriving officer thought he saw "muzzle flashes" coming from inside the home. A woman ran outside, pointing to a car that was starting to drive away.
The driver pulled over for the officer and got out, hands raised, shirtless with blood on his hands. Then the woman ran over, yelling "let him go."
Police went inside the home and observed damage to some of the cabinets in the kitchen, blood over much of the floor, a broken bathroom window and an empty gun magazine on the floor. A dozen bullet casings were located outside.
A child of the couple told police that her father had come over to their home and got into a loud argument with her mother. She then heard what sounded like gunshots from outside the residence, but did not see who was shooting. Moton then allegedly came into the house and started damaging things.
The woman said she had left her home with other children in order to defuse the situation. When she returned, Motion was still there arguing outside with someone whom she claimed she didn't know. She denied hearing or seeing any gunshots. Moton, now with blood on his hands and mouth, apparently entered the home a second time breaking additional things.
For his part, Moton claimed that the woman had invited her new boyfriend over and that during a fight with one individual he believed two others were going to jump him, which led him to fire shots into the air to make them leave.
The woman said she did not want to prosecute for the damage or for the incident.
