Arrests in a Kenosha 'Shots Fired' Case

July 5, 2021 5:40p

(WGTD)---A second person has been arrested in a 'shots fired' case in Kenosha, thanks to video surveillance cameras, cooperative citizens and the hesitant cooperation of a suspect.

16-year-old Terrell McKinney of Racine has been charged with endangering safety, possession of a firearm by a delinquent and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18. Also facing charges is another 16-year-old from Racine, Marcus Ward. Ward is facing additional charges in Racine in connection with a similar case there.

According to a criminal complaint, McKinney and Ward allegedly fired in the direction of an unknown victim from a corner across the street from the Chavez Learning Center at about 1:38 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3rd. The center is located in the Uptown area. Both Ward and McKinney purportedly are members of a street gang.

All or parts of the incident were captured on cameras mounted on four separate properties.

The complaint indicates that a third teen--believed to have been driving the van used in the commission of the crime--has been cooperating. The van--parked with its engine still warm--was spotted in the neighborhood almost immediately after the gunfire. Neighbors had provided a rough description.

The suspect who implicated the two alleged gunmen has not been charged in adult court although it's possible he may have appeared in juvenile court. Authorities say the teen was spotted on social media posing with guns.
