Just a few days ago, a robber shot and killed a Burger King employee who'd been working the drive-thru at a Burger King in Milwaukee. In Racine County Tuesday, a driver pointed a gun at a worker in the drive-thru of the Burger King at I-94 and Highway 20. Before driving off, the gunman fired a shot into an employee's car. A Wisconsin judge has ordered that Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos sit for a deposition with attorneys for a liberal watchdog group seeking records related to the GOP-ordered investigation into the 2020 election. Dane County Circuit Court Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn on Tuesday denied an attempt by Vos and his staff attorney, Steve Fawcett, to block the depositions. It’s the latest defeat for Vos in the battle between him and American Oversight over records the group is seeking. Vos has turned over some documents, but the group argues he should be found in contempt for not complying quickly enough with court orders to produce more information.

School board races in Kenosha and Racine are set with the passing Tuesday night of the filing deadline. In Kenosha Unified, six candidates have filed for three seats. They include two incumbents, Rebecca Stevens and Atifa Robinson. The challengers are Sam Roochnik, Eric Meadows, Jon Kim and Kristine Schmaling. In Racine Unified, four seats are up for grabs. But barring write-in candidates, only one race is contested. Margaret Oliver, Theresa Villar and Tonya Evans will compete in District 1. Evans was recently appointed by the board to fill the position until the spring election. The seat had been held by Amy Cimbalnik who resigned last year for family reasons. Because three people are running, a primary will be held next month.

The driver who was killed in a New Year's Day crash on Sheridan Rd. in Somers has been identified as 26-year-old Ryan Fandry. The accident occurred near the Hob Nob, which was the restaurant where he had been employed. And the Kenosha County Jail inmate who died in a cell just a few hours into the new year has been identified as 25-year-old Reighnn Post-McNab. The hospital where he was taken said the death appeared to be due to a medical condition. But according to a GoFundMe account, family members aren't so sure, and want authorities to explore some type of disagreement that Post-McNab purportedly had with a jailer just before his death. The Racine County Sheriff's Dept. was called in to investigate. The inmate reportedly had been in jail since last June for various infractions.
