The WGTD listening area will have two members on a committee that's been appointed to search for the next Universities of Wisconsin president. UW-Parkside Chancellor Lynn Akey and UW Regent Jim Kreuser--a former Kenosha County Executive--will sit on the 25-member panel to screen applicants for the position last held by Jay Rothman. Rothman was fired last month. The Board of Regents will appoint a replacement.

The Kenosha Plan Commission has approved a delay in the construction of a Uline warehouse that has been earmarked for a site west of the interstate off of County 'N'. The company had planned to start construction last year or early this year. But company officials say economic uncertainty and an adequate amount of existing space to serve current needs prompted them to push off construction to 2027 or later.

Area initiatives are included on a list of 71 community development projects across the state that are in line to receive state funding if the Building Commission goes along with Governor Evers' recommendations. The projects would be funded by a special program set up by the legislature and Evers to benefit non-state sanctioned projects. The list includes $2 million for the new King Community Center in Racine, $250,000 for the Pike River South Branch Restoration Project in Kenosha County, $560,000 for the Burlington Library Foundation's "Our Community Library--Thinking Outside the Books" initiative, $26,000 for the restoration of the Webster House Museum in Elkhorn, $800,000 for the Aram library expansion in Delavan and nearly $200,000 for a capital improvement project in the Salem School District. The commission will meet Wednesday to consider the projects.

A 19 year-old Genoa City woman is facing charges in connection with a head-on crash that occurred Saturday, May 2nd north of Highway 50 on Highway 83. Tegan Cox was charged with two counts of injury by the intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. Her car allegedly crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. Cox was pulled from her car by a passerby moments before it burst into flames. Cox and the driver of the other car were seriously hurt. A passenger in the second vehicle suffered less serious injuries. All are recovering.

One of two vehicles emblazoned with the Chick-fil-A logo that were stolen from a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Mt. Pleasant Friday afternoon have been recovered. A 16 year-old Racine resident was taken into custody after he bailed following a short foot chase. The second vehicle--a 2022 Kia Soul--is still being sought.

The Racine City Council will get a briefing Monday night on a plan from Mayor Cory Mason to finance some of the next phases of his plan to strengthen Racine neighborhoods and spur redevelopment. It involves adjusting some tax incremental financing districts and creating two new ones. Critics contend the districts reduce the city's ability to keep property taxes in check.
