(WGTD)---A trial has been scheduled in a lawsuit stemming from a 2022 burial service in Kenosha that went awry.
According to the suit, funeral workers placed a casket containing the body of Nancy Eisen in a burial vault then lowered the vault into a grave at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
The problem was that the grave was flooded. The vault filled with water, purportedly causing the casket to rotate and roll. The casket lid then opened and water poured in and around the body.
The ceremony, with some 30 mourners present, had to be stopped and rescheduled and that the body had to be "re-prepared."
Mrs. Eisen's two sons are suing the cemetery and North Shore Cement Burial Vault.
In response to the suit, the defendants allege that the plaintiffs failed to "mitigate" the damages and that the funeral home--Bruch-Hansen--shares part of the blame.
