Indoor Mask-Wearing Urged in Public Places in Racine and Kenosha Counties

May 16, 2022 1p

(WGTD)---The state health department is recommending the use of masks in indoor public settings in Kenosha, Racine and five other counties in the state because of high transmission levels.

The rating system is based on the number of new cases and hospital capacity.

The mask-wearing recommendation is for all residents in the seven counties, regardless of vaccination status.

"As cases increase statewide, all Wisconsinites have an essential role to play in keeping ourselves and our communities healthy and protecting those around us, especially those who are at high-risk for severe illness," said Karen Timberlake, Department of Health Services Secretary-designee.

The department is asking everyone in the state to know the COVID-19 community level where you live or are traveling to and follow the associated guidelines. It's renewing the push to get vaccinated and get tested if you have symptoms or were exposed to someone with COVID.
