KSD Investigates Hob Nob Tire Dumping; Modine Gets Big Contract

Somers---The Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept. is still working to track down who dumped dozens of tires on the Lake Michigan shoreline behind the Hob Nob restaurant. WITI-TV first reported the mess over the weekend. A department spokesman tells WGTD FM that between 50 and 80 tires were deposited along the shoreline sometime within the past few weeks, and that the matter is being investigated as a littering complaint. The restaurant reportedly has installed new security cameras in the restaurant's parking lot that borders the lake.

Racine---Modine Manufacturing's bottom line will be helped along by a military contract that was recently awarded to Oshkosh Defense. Modine has been subcontracted to install cooling modules in nearly 17,000 light tactical vehicles that Oshkosh will be building for the Army and Marine Corps. Five different Modine plants will have a hand in building the units. Personnel at the company's Racine-based headquarters handled administrative and sales functions. The value of the order was not disclosed.

Kenosha---John Antaramian presided over his first city council meeting Monday night since his election as mayor last month. He admitted being a little rusty after an absence of eight years. At the end of the meeting, the mayor told the council that he's looking forward to the year ahead. Monday night's meeting was short and uneventful.
