KUSD Transgender Lawsuit Decision Anticipated; Leipold to Speak at Carthage

Milwaukee--A federal judge is expected to rule Monday on a request by the Kenosha Unified School District to dismiss a lawsuit that's been filed by a Tremper High School transgender student. Ash Whitaker has been prohibited from using the restroom of his gender identity. If the boy's lawsuit survives, then the judge is expected to consider a request from the student for a preliminary injunction against the district.

Kenosha---The annual K-U-S-D electors' meeting will take place Monday night at Indian Trail  High School and Academy. The usually poorly-attended event is a chance for voters within the school district to have input on the budget process. This year's meeting may be a bit more lively. Former school board member Kyle Flood is expected to try to get the board to allow for electors to intervene in a federal lawsuit that involves a transgender student from Tremper. The district has already said that such a move would not be allowed.

Kenosha--A potential key player in Racine Mayor Dickert's drive to build an arena in the downtown area is expected to speak Monday night at Carthage College. Craig Leipold--an NHL hockey franchise owner--has said he'd be willing to help Racine secure a minor league hockey team. Leipold is married to Helen Johnson-Leipold, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson Outdoors and chairman of Johnson Financial Bank Corp. The couple has a son who's enrolled at Carthage.
