Local Headlines: Drug Bust; DKI Director to Leave; Highway 'S' Forum

Kenosha---Authorities closed down a drug house Tuesday on the city's near north side, then a few hours later, intercepted a shipment of drugs. According to a news release from the Kenosha Drug Operations Group, 28 year-old Cory Piehl and 21 year-old Willie Jones were arrested in a traffic stop shortly after leaving the lower apartment at 4425 30th Ave. A third suspect, 26 year-old Zachary Moore, was taken into custody at a separate location. A search of the apartment yielded a quantity of heroin and pure fentanyl.  After developing new information, agents then laid in wait for an expected delivery from Chicago of additional drugs. 28 year-old Dwayne Jones was arrested when he pulled up. A total of 140 grams of both fentanyl and heroin were recovered . 

Kenosha---The executive director of the non-profit that promotes Downtown Kenosha has resigned. No reason was given for Nicole Thomsen's departure from Downtown Kenosha Inc. She'd been director for the past 17 months. Under her reign, the organization launched "pop-up" beer gardens on Simmons Island and also developed a new web site. A news release said the search for a replacement will begin immediately. 

Somers---A public hearing will be held later this month on plans to widen Highway 'S' from I-94 east to Green Bay Rd. It'll be held from 4:30 to 7:30 Thursday, Sept. 20th at the Kenosha County Center. The project's first phase will focus on a two-mile-long stretch from 'H' to Green Bay Road. The public heqring will focus on the first phase, but information will be presented covering the second phase, from 'H' west to the interstate.
