Mental Exam For Girl's Attacker; Road Rage Suspect Picks Wrong Victim

Kenosha---A competency exam has been ordered for a 34 year-old woman who walked up to a stranger's home Sunday and stabbed a 12 year-old girl in the back.Bond for Jennifer Hernandez was set at $250,000 Monday. She's charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide, battery and armed burglary. According to the criminal complaint, Hernandez, who lives near the victim's home, made nonsensical comments before and after her arrest. The girl's injuries were not life-threatening.

Racine---A road rage incident ended with a quick arrest--the victim was a cop. According to the criminal complaint, 27 year-old Jason Klawitter of Racine was tailgating an off-duty female officer from Caledonia on Sunday. As he passed, Klawitter allegedly threw an open can of beer in her car, beaning her. The officer got the license plate number of the offending vehicle, and an investigation led to the arrest. The officer wasn't seriously hurt. Bond for Klawitter was set Monday at $1,000. He's facing charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage, battery and operating a vehicle while revoked.

Kenosha---Washington Middle School may soon have the best-equipped workout room of any middle school in the area, thanks to a $100,000 grant. The north side school was recently chosen as one of three state schools to be awarded a $100,000 Wisconsin Fitness Center Grant by the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils. The money will cover the cost of fitness equipment, room design, delivery and installation. The room could be ready for workouts by the end of September.
