From WGTD News:

Authorities are taking seriously what may have sounded like at first to be a fantastical plot to abduct and extort money from a Social Security hearing examiner. But 52-year-old Arthur Omar McClurg has now been charged with conspiracy to commit 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and Kidnapping. According to the criminal complaint, a worried woman went to Kenosha police to relay a strange conversation she had with her neighbor. McClurg reportedly told her he was planning on solving his financial problems by abducting and extorting money from the Madison social security official who ruled against his claim for disability benefits. Police launched an investigation, and it seemed like the deeper they got the more evidence they found that McClurg had the means to carry out the plot. Uncovered in searches of the defendant’s home and car were 10 guns, several hundred rounds of ammunition, various wigs and mustaches, handcuffs, a false FBI identification card, a bullet-proof tactical vest, Florida license plates still in their package and what appeared to be an improvised silencer for a gun. Also recovered were cell phone text messages that included a conversation with an individual about a bank account and ways in which to transfer money. When confronted, McClurg purportedly chuckled and said he’d been talking trash with his neighbor. McClurg is being held on a $150,000 cash bond.

A pair of 12-year-olds are in juvenile detention after they allegedly threatened to “shoot up” Racine Christian School on Viriginia St. Police were notified before school was scheduled to start yesterday. Without elaborating, a police department news release indicated that the suspects—a boy and a girl—were taken into custody. Police said it was unlikely that neither would’ve had easy access to firearms. But they say they came across some items, such as a map of the school, that presented causes for concern. As a precaution, the school cancelled classes for the day.

A suspected burglar is facing numerous charges for allegedly using power tools to saw his way into various businesses in Racine. 34-year-old Kevontae Oliver is being held on a $25,000 cash bond. According to the criminal complaint, Oliver allegedly crawled up onto the roofs of convenience stores, bars and other businesses with tools and a fold-up extension ladder. The burglar would saw a hole through the ceiling and then use the ladder to climb down into the business. Oliver allegedly broke into ATM’s and cash registers and in some cases took merchandise. Oliver was arrested after a custodian in the Piggly Wiggly on Durand Ave. heard footsteps on the roof and then heard sounds of a power saw. A responding police officer saw a dark figure moving about on the roof, and then heard a crash. He then saw Oliver climbing out of a dumpster and taking off on foot. Oliver was arrested moments later. Police have linked him to seven other break-ins that occurred this past summer.
