The Delavan-based company—founded in 2009—provides warehousing and fulfillment services for customers working with Amazon or other e-commerce platforms. According to a news release, the Kenosha Area Business Alliance will support the project with a $1.5 million loan and Kenosha County will provide $400,000 through its high-impact fund. Company co-founders Mark Becker and Jeff Peterson were recently named Small Business Persons of the Year for Wisconsin by the U.S. Small Business Administration. A Kenosha man allegedly responsible for a carjacking, an attempted carjacking and a series of vehicle crashes during a chaotic few minutes in the area of 52nd St. and 22nd Ave. Tuesday night has been formally charged. The suspect—23-year-old Jovan Sams who lives in the neighborhood—missed his initial appearance Thursday. According to what was said in court, Sams refused to leave his cell. No reason was given for the non-appearance, although the complaint hints of possible mental problems. The series of events began when Sams jumped in a parked, occupied vehicle and forced the driver to drive around the block. Sams then scuffled with the victim before pushing him out. A short while later, Sams reportedly rear-ended another vehicle and may have tried to steal that car before being pushed out by the driver. A police pursuit and multiple collisions occurred before Sams was tazed and taken into custody. Police report Sams was uncooperative during the arrest and said nonsensical things like he was "doing this for his family. No one appeared to be seriously injured, although the victim of the carjacking was taken to the hospital for treatment then released.
