From Racine County and City of Racine:

March 12, 2021 – The State of Wisconsin announced an opening date and released further details today regarding a community-based vaccination clinic in Racine County.

The clinic will open Tuesday, March 23, at Regency Mall in the former Burlington Coat Factory space. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The clinic will initially administer 200 shots per day, with the ability to administer up to 1,000 shots per day, depending on supply. Everyone interested in a vaccine can register for the clinic through the Wisconsin Vaccine Registry, https://vaccinate.wi.gov. The system will determine who is eligible, and people will get an invite to book an appointment when they are eligible. Individuals can also register by phone by calling toll-free 844-684-1064 (interpreters available for non-English speakers).

The clinic is a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, as well as local partners including the Central Racine County Health Department, City of Racine Public Health Department, and Racine County Emergency Operations Center. The clinic will supplement efforts of the local health departments, both of which will continue to operate vaccination clinics, as well as local healthcare providers and pharmacies.

The Central Racine County Health Department, City of Racine Public Health Department, and Racine County released the following joint statement: “We are thankful for this great collaboration to expand access to the COVID-19 vaccine in Racine County. This new clinic will boost our local efforts already under way and add another avenue for residents to get the vaccine. We strongly encourage residents to get vaccinated when they are eligible so we can protect our families and communities.”

The new clinic is meant to fill in gaps in access and is only one option for vaccination. Other options include your health care provider, local pharmacy, Walgreens federal retail pharmacy program, local health departments, and State Mobile Vaccination Team Clinics.

Currently, populations eligible for the vaccine include:

  • Front-line health care personnel
  • Residents in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities
  • Police, fire personnel, and correctional staff
  • Adults age 65 and older
  • Educators and childcare workers
  • People enrolled in Medicaid long-term care programs
  • Some public-facing essential workers
  • Non-frontline essential health care personnel
  • Staff and residents in congregate living facilities.

Beginning March 29, people age 16 and older with chronic medical conditions that increase risk of severe illness from COVID-19 will become eligible. Read the DHS news release for more details on this eligibility group. All residents age 16 and older will be eligible in May.

For vaccine-related questions and registration support, individuals can call toll-free at (844) 684-1064. For more information on available COVID-19 vaccination options, visit the “Where can I get vaccinated?” DHS webpage.
