(WGTD)---A new fund has been established at the Kenosha Community Foundation that potentially will help some non-profits fill shortfalls left by federal funding cutbacks.
Foundation Executive Director Amy Greil has announced that a sizeable, anonymous donation has been secured to serve as the cornerstone for the Foundation’s Centennial Campaign. The campaign is being launched to mark the foundation’s centennial anniversary.
Speaking on WGTD’s Morning Show, Greil said the endowment fund will finance grants to non-profits that will have fewer strings attached. "The unrestricted grant-making couldn't come at a better time particularly as so many non-profits are feeling the pinch of federal funding cuts," she said.
The Foundation already has 13 endowment funds with targeted purposes. They currently generate over $60,000 in annual distributions.
The new fund will generate revenue that conceivably can be used for general operating expenses.
Anyone can contribute. Small and large donations are welcome.
The interest generated each year by the new fund will be disbursed by the group's volunteer grant review committee and by KCF board members, according to Greil.
