Pokemon Craze Drives Players Outside Day And Night

Kenosha---It's like a scene from "The Walking Dead": At practically any hour of the day or night, hundreds of people can be seen head down, smart phone in hand, walking along the lakefront and in many other neighborhoods, cemeteries included.

Playing in teams, "Pokemon Go" has players scouring areas looking for 'virtually' planted pocket monsters.

Players aren't always welcomed with open arms. For example, the Illinois National Guard is barring players from its facilities. Guard officials said several players have appeared at the gates of Guard facilities and training centers asking for access. Ditto with the Chicago Fire Department.

On the other hand, some businesses are working to cash in on the craze.

The Kenosha News reports that Mike's Donuts and Chicken in downtown Kenosoha is offering donuts in the shape of Pokeballs. The Garage Sports Bar and Burger Restaurant is offering a 10% discount to members of the "Instinct" team. A Pleasant Prairie residents tells the paper she sold more than 30 Pokemon T-shirts in an hour at the lakefront.
