(WGTD)---A member of the Racine City Council has been appointed to fill a vacancy on the Racine School Board.
Marlo Harmon will replace Scott Coey who moved out of the district. Harmon had run for the seat in the April election but lost to Coey.
Harmon was one of two applicants for the vacancy. The other applicant was Carolyn Heifner, a social worker at Union Grove High School.
The candidates were interviewed Monday night by the remaining board members who then voted 4-3 to select Harmon. Board member April Harris recused herself.
Harmon is the second city council member to take on a dual role. Grace Allen is the other alder who also sits on the school board.
