(WGTD)---There's been at least one arrest in a rash of recent vehicle thefts that have occurred in the area.
41-year-old Taris Williams of Kenosha was in court this week after he was stopped while driving a pickup with an attached plow that had been stolen from a downtown street.
Williams told a couple of different stories.
In the first version, Williams said an extremely drunk man had given him the keys to his truck and asked him to drive him home. Before getting there, Williams told police the man inexplicably jumped out and ran off, leaving him with the truck.
In the second version, Williams purportedly admitted to stealing the truck because he was homeless and cold and that the keys had been left inside.
But the owner, in his report to police, said he in fact still had the keys, and believed that the truck had actually been locked when it was taken.
Some of the vehicle thefts that have occurred in recent days happened after the owners left their engines running to go inside to warm up.
Williams, who has a lengthy record, was released Tuesday on a signature bond.
Williams' home address is listed in the criminal complaint as an apartment in the 4100 blk. of 28th ave.
