RUSD Break Extended; KUSD's Sked Up For Discussion Monday Night

Jan. 2, 2022 11p

(WGTD)---Kids in Racine Unified have a couple of extra days off. The district’s winter break is being extended by two days because of COVID.

Meanwhile, the Kenosha School Board is expected to meet in emergency session Monday evening. The lone agenda item is the district response to COVID.

In Racine Unified, students won’t have to report now until Wednesday. However, staff goes back to work Monday as scheduled.

District spokesperson Stacy Tapp says the extended break will allow parents to have their students tested if they so desire. It’ll also give the district extra time to study COVID data.

The district’s federally-funded in-house testing sites for students will be open Monday despite no school for students. Tests are offered at Gilmore Fine Arts, Mitchell K-8 and beginning Monday in the mornings, SC Johnson Elementary. Parents interested in having their children tested need to register first online at the district’s website.

The Kenosha School Board meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 and will be available for viewing online.
