From WGTD News:

A Snow Emergency has been declared in the City of Kenosha for a snow storm that's expected to dump 4-6 inches along the lakeshore. Lesser amounts are expected inland. The ban on street parking takes effect Thursday night at midnight and remain in place for the next 24 hours. The snowfall is expected to end early Friday.

Racine Mayor Cory Mason has signed an order that ends enforcement of the city's mask mandate. The requirement is expected to end altogether at the end of the month. In a statement, Mason said his order doesn't mean that the pandemic is over, and that residents should continue to take steps to protect themselves and get vaccinated if they haven't done so already. Mason's order comes a couple days after the Kenosha School Board voted to end KUSD's mask mandate at the beginning of the 4th quarter which is March 28th.

Kenosha Unified over the next few years is expected to see some of its steepest enrollment declines yet. The school board got a briefing this week from the district’s Chief Information Officer Kris Keckler. Enrollment next year is expected to drop by over 500 students. The declines in each of the subsequent two years are expected to be even higher. Keckler blames decreasing birth rates, noting that Kenosha's population in the last decade grew by only 800. In decades that preceded the last, the city's population regularly grew by over 8,000 residents. With the expected decline of over 500 students, next year’s projected enrollment in KUSD is expected to be just over 19,000. That’s about 4,000 fewer students than 2010. Kenosha Unified isn’t alone in having to adjust to fewer students. Declines are being experienced in most K-12 districts, along with colleges and universities.
