(WGTD)---Dual enrollment at Gateway Technical College is still going strong.
Dual enrollment is where high school students earn college credit, shortening the time it takes to get into the job market, and at less cost.
Katie Graf is the High School Partnerships Director for Gateway Technical College. "This is actually the third year in a row that Gateway is leading the state out of all the colleges and universities and technical colleges in having dual credit students," she said on a recent edition of the WPR program Wisconsin Today.
Last year there were 7,000 students in dual enrollment at Gateway, or about a-third of the school’s total enrollment.
Dual enrollment comes in different flavors. Sometimes high school teachers who are accredited to teach college-level courses provide the instruction in their home school. Sometimes high school students travel to Gateway facilities. Another program is youth apprenticeship.
