(WGTD)---The Kenosha Public Health Department's make-shift vaccination clinic in the former Shopko building on 52nd St. received additional first doses this week. As a result, several hundred new appointment slots were created. As of Monday evening, many remained unfilled.
The appointments are for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The health department originally had limited appointments to people who would call the department's hotline. It was an apparent bid to give people who aren't online a better chance of securing a slot. But by Monday afternoon, with the larger supply on hand, the department reopened its online booking system.
The appointments are only for those who meet certain eligibility requirements, and live, work or study in Kenosha County. The eligibility list has been greatly expanded in recent days, and now includes people with certain pre-existing conditions. Those conditions are outlined on the department's website.
As of Monday, over 46,000 Kenosha County residents have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
County Health Officer Jen Freiheit said Monday night that walk-ins may be accepted Tuesday and Wednesday if the appointment schedule doesn't fill up.
