Carthage College: Starting Line for an International Career

Kenosha---Growing up near the Twin Cities, Christina Bruff’s career path was quite hazy. She wasn’t sure just exactly where her interests in poverty, politics and Spanish might take her.

The way forward became crystal clear after four years at Carthage College where she double-majored in international political economy and economics. She minored in Spanish.

Bruff currently works for the U-S State Department as an economic development officer in Africa.

Speaking on Tuesday’s Morning Show, Bruff sung the praises of a liberal arts education. "Carthage has provided me with the foundation to move forward in an international career," she said. "And that way it's done that is through a liberal arts education that forced me to take classes across a wide variety of disciplines."

After an eight-year absence, Bruff returned to Carthage this week as the school’s most-recent executive-in-residence.
