From WGTD News:
An alleged typo is causing sparks in the court case against Harry Wait, the Union Grove man who's accused of election fraud and identity theft in requesting absentee ballots in the names of Cory Mason and Robin Vos. Racine Judge Robert Repischak recently refused to dismiss the case. The written ruling included a typo. The judge wrote that the defendant used the identification of others with their permission. In a request to the judge to correct the error, Assistant Attorney General Robert Kaiser opined that the judge meant to say without their permission. In his own letter to the court, Wait hotly disputes the typo characterization, although he concedes that the bottom-line intent of Repischak's ruling was to keep the case alive. Wait goes on to accuse Kaiser of misconduct, and asks that he be removed from the case. A status conference has been scheduled for June.

A 40-year-old Kenosha man was shot to death in an apartment on 60th St. early Sunday morning. Police were called to the 1600 blk. just after 2 a.m. and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the likely result, they said, of an argument. He died at the scene. At last report, no arrests had been made. Just last week, a resident in the same block if not the same building shot up his apartment and was taken into custody. No injuries occurred as a result of that incident.

A murder trial for a 15-year-old Racine boy ended last week with a hung jury. The prosecutor in the case plans to try again, according to online court records. Zontell Junior allegedly shot 16-year-old Quentin Smith in the head because he associated with the wrong gang. The shooting purportedly occurred as the defendant, victim and a witness were smoking marijuana together at a home last summer. The jury in the case deliberated Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The jury foreman reportedly told the judge there was a lone hold-out, prompting the declaration of a mistrial.

Pleasant Prairie Police were confronted with not one but two wrong-way drivers on Green Bay Rd. Saturday night. In the first case, a driver was stopped near State Highway 165 for driving southbound in the northbound lanes. He was cited for OWI. While on that case, officers received a report of another wrong-way driver. That driver went around marked squads, but then was stopped after other officers successfully deployed spike strips. The driver was allegedly intoxicated as well. Earlier in the evening, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested a third driver after he admitted to having a loaded gun in a sling bag across his chest. He did not have a concealed carry permit.
