KSB Showdown Over Vacancy Wil Be Monday Night

Feb. 16, 2023 5:30p

(WGTD)---Four candidates, including the incumbent, have applied to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Kenosha School Board.

The situation is unusual—and confusing-- in that the vacancy stems from the method chosen by the school board to fix an error in an election notice that was published a year ago.

The erroneous notice indicated that all three seats up for election last April carried three-year terms when in fact one seat was for just one year.

That third seat was won by conservative board member Eric Meadows, who has now been forced to leave the board so the board can get its election cycle back on track.

Meadows is fighting to hang on to his seat.

He’s one of the four candidates who have applied to fill the new vacancy. The others include former board member Carl Bryan, Kenosha County Board Supervisor Brian Thomas and family and juvenile law attorney Megan Norris.

Two Republican members of the local legislative delegation--- Senator Van Wanggaard and Representative Amanda Nedweski—are calling the process a back-door way for the board majority to get rid of a member who doesn’t always share their views.

The four candidates will be interviewed during a special meeting of the board that’ll take place Monday night at Indian Trail High School. Norris, however, tells WGTD she may not be able to make Monday night’s meeting.
