The victim of a crash at the Great Lakes Dragaway near Union Grove over the weekend has been identified as a 66-year-old Marengo, Illinois man. According to a news release from the Kenosha County Sheriff's Dept., Charles Weck was driving a Corvette drag car Saturday night at an estimated speed of 200 mph when he lost control and slammed into a wall. Despite the benefits of a helmet and full safety restraints, Weck sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No disruptions to racing at Kenosha's Velodrome are expected following an incident in which a length of fencing that rings the upper rim of the track was knocked down. Police said a 14-year-old boy drove onto the track Sunday afternoon for a joyride then lost control, striking the fencing. Citations were issued for operating a vehicle without a valid license, hit and run and permitting an unauthorized minor to drive. Workers re-installed the fence on Monday.
