Manufacturing to Return to an Inner-City Site in Racine That Lost it Long Ago

City officials in Racine are elated that a small, inner-city industry has not only agreed to stay but plans to build a larger plant.

Jacquet (jack-Kay’) will be moving across the street into the new South Side Industrial Park.

The two new buildings that it plans to construct will nearly triple the company’s existing work space.

Jacquet is headquartered in France and describes itself as a stainless steel and nickel alloy processing company.

Jacquet will buy about half of the 15-acre industrial park, located off of South Memorial Drive and DeKoven Ave. It's a property the city acquired a number of years ago with the end of manufacturing by Jacobson/Textron.

At an on-site announcement Tuesday, Racine Mayor Cory Mason said manufacturers like Jacquet historically have played a big role in the city. "I had a summer job here a long time ago when it was still Jacobsen," Mason noted. "This was a place for a long time where people got up and went to work every day. This is where things were built."

Mason said he's thrilled that manufacturing will return to the property once again.

With the new facility, Jacquet plans to add 12 new jobs to the current workforce of 19.
