(WGTD)---Power was quickly restored to most homes and business that lost it as a result of a line of thunderstorms that swept through southeast Wisconsin early Wednesday afternoon.
Several tornadoes dropped out of the clouds as a cold front moved through. Little in the way of structural damage was reported, according to National Weather Service forecaster Andy Boxell.
But the storm system was dangerous enough to prompt NWS to issue several tornado warnings that affected the WGTD listening area.
The storms that moved through were in line with what can often be seen during this time of year. "Anytime we have strong storms in the cooler seasons--early in the spring or during the fall--those often times are quite different from what we see in the heart of late spring and summer--sort of the traditional severe weather seasons," he said. For one thing, what tornadoes that did form were brief and barely touched the ground. In addition, lightening was absent, he said.
