(WGTD)--- In what was expected to be his last appearance on WGTD’s Morning Show while serving as the president of Gateway Technical College, Bryan Albrecht said he believes he’s laid the groundwork to ensure the school’s success for the foreseeable future.
“I see nothing but blue skies for Gateway moving forward,” said Albrecht in an appearance last week. “I think when I look at Gateway a year from now I will smile.”
Albrecht is proud of the school’s financial base, “engaged” faculty and staff and a “laser” focus that’s been developed over the years on student success and recruitment. In addition, Gateway is in the second year of a strategic development plan.
Albrecht is expected to depart for retirement sometime this fall or early winter after serving at the pleasure of the new president as an adviser to the transition.
The deadline for applying for the Gateway presidency passed several weeks ago, and a committee is in the process of reviewing the applications.
Once he retires, Albrecht says much of his time will be spent at his home in northern Wisconsin with his wife, a retired Central High School principal, but he also expects to be back in Kenosha frequently, in part because that’s where his daughter and son-in-law resides with their children. Albrecht also says he plans to retain membership on the boards of some non-profits, such as the Mahone Fund.
