Plea Bargains, Trial, Ahead in Assisted Living Facility Death

May 19, 2025 9:45p

(WGTD)---Two of the three defendants in the case of a Kenosha assisted living resident who wandered away and died of exposure have tentatively struck plea bargains. Demontae Collins and Liliana Lozano are due back in court June 3rd for plea hearings.

A third defendant--Susan Valentin--is expected to go on trial in Kenosha Court on Tuesday.

All three were charged with felonies in the death of Helen Ende.

According to the criminal complaint, Ende walked out of Parkside Manor Assisted Living and Memory Care in December of 2022, setting off an alarm. Valentin and Lozana, two employees who were on duty that night, didn't immediately investigate. Collins, a co-worker who would've been in a position to check, apparently had left the building on an extended break. Ende's body was found outside the next day.

According to online court records, Lozano is expected to testify against Valentin.

A civil trial in the case last year resulted in a $4 million judgment against the company that owns Parkside Manor.
