(WGTD)---After struggling for years to secure what’s called a federally-qualified health center, the City of Racine by early next year is expected to have two.
A Milwaukee-based non-profit, Outreach Community Health Centers, is expected to open a clinic in Racine on the campus of Ascension All Saints off of Spring Street.
Outreach is in partnership with another non-profit, Racine Community Health Center, which in turn has the support of Racine County, Ascension of course, Aurora and a federal agency, Health Resources and Service Administration.
The new clinic will offer comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, dental and preventative services to anyone regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. That includes homeless people.
Fees will be assessed on a sliding scale depending on ability to pay.
Racine’s first federally-qualified clinic opened earlier this year in the basement of Julian Thomas Elementary, and will eventually relocate to the new Lincoln-King Community Center once it opens. That clinic is operated by Pillar Health.
