The City of Racine has recorded another homicide, this one domestic-related. Monday morning at 8:30, police and rescue responded to a home in the 1700 blk. of Holmes Ave. on a report of a woman who was not breathing. According to a news release, the woman was found to be suffering from "multiple suspicious injuries" and was taken to the hospital where she later died. Police said a suspect was quickly identified and is expected to be charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. Monday's homicide follows two murders earlier this month in which no arrests have been made.

A downtown Racine apartment building for low-income seniors has been declared a nuisance, triggering a process that could result in citations, fines and other law enforcement actions. According to a news release from the city, police have responded over 800 times since the beginning of 2022 to McMynn Tower. Meridian Group, the building's owner, now has 10 days to submit what's called a "nuisance abatement plan." A previous plan did in fact result in a reduction in calls, but then the number of responses has been steadily increasing, according to the release. The police department has already been meeting with Meridian to come up with a new plan.
