Salem Lakes Man Charged With Homicide in a Crash That Killed a Pleasant Prairie Woman

(WGTD)---A Salem Lakes man has been charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle after he allegedly plowed into a car carrying a Pleasant Prairie couple last Saturday. 

Bond for 41-year-old Steven Falls, Jr. of Salem Lakes was set Tuesday at $300,000.

89-year-old Marilyn Kutzler died a day after the accident. Her husband, Jack, who'd been driving, was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.

According to the criminal complaint, Falls ran a stop sign at 38th St. and East Frontage Rd. just before noon on Saturday. He then fled into a nearby woods but was arrested a short time later.

The charges include operating while revoked, hit and run and operating while intoxicated. According to the complaint, Falls admitted to a deputy that he had used heroin the night before and had gone to a clinic the morning of the crash for a dose of methadone, a drug that's used to treat people with heroin addictions. 

According to social media posts, the Kutzler's had been married for 70 years.
