Dec. 17, 2025 9:15p

From WGTD News:

After a brief break from sub-freezing temperatures, Thursday's weather in the WGTD listening area during the late afternoon and early evening hours could get a bit dicey, according to the National Weather Service. A strong cold front could trigger snow squalls. Then it's expected to become blustery and cold, with an overnight low of 10. Temperatures on Friday, under mostly sunny skies, are expected to be in the mid-20s, but a stiff wind will drive down the 'feels like' temperature.

Former Kenosha County Board Supervisor Andy Berg has been released from jail after posting a $75,000 bond. Berg was formally charged Wednesday with several counts of delivering drugs. At last report, she remains behind bars. Preliminary hearings were scheduled for the day after Christmas.

Fears over what might happen on the first anniversary of Madison's Abundant Christian Life school shooting apparently led to lower attendance Tuesday in Kenosha Unified. Those concerns were exacerbated by a report that a 15 year-old Kenosha boy had made threats. KUSD said that student attendance on Tuesday was 25% lower than usual while staff attendance was normal. Police confirmed that the boy was the same teen who had tried to enter Roosevelt Elementary School last year with a bag full of air soft guns. He remains in custody. No incidents on Tuesday were reported.

A pair of apartment fires minutes apart occurred in Racine Wednesday. A kitchen fire in a 20-unit apartment building on Howe St. caused nearly $100,000 in damage. Sprinkler heads kept the fire from spreading. Residents of the apartment where the fire started were displaced while other tenants were allowed to return to their apartments. The second fire occurred in a duplex in the 5100 blk. of Biscayne Ave. According to a news release from the fire department, the blaze was contained to a bathroom wall, but the flames coupled with the effects of smoke and water resulted in a damage estimate totaling $50,000. The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
