From the Racine County Sheriff's Dept:
On Friday, December 16, 2022, at approximately 10:08 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Britton Rd., Town of Dover, for a man actively assaulting two individuals, possibly with a brick. The suspect was identified as Bradley W. Kubisiak, a 32-year-old male from Muskego who staying in the area. Kubisiak has a lengthy and violent criminal history.
A Sheriff’s investigator was nearby and immediately responded to the incident. Upon arrival, the investigator parked his patrol squad and approached the area on foot. The investigator observed evidence of a violent assault, including 10-pound landscaping bricks. The investigator saw Kubisiak in a pick-up truck in the driveway. The investigator drew his firearm and shouted lawful commands to Kubisiak, which he ignored by driving past the investigator. Next, Kubisiak stopped the pick-up truck, placed the pick-up truck in reverse, and accelerated rapidly toward the investigator. Fearing for his life, the investigator discharged his firearm at Kubisiak in the pick-up truck. In response, Kubisiak placed the pick-up truck into drive, drove down the driveway, smashed into the squad car, and fled northbound on Britton Rd.
Minutes later, the Sheriff’s Office received information that there was a male acting erratically near a pole barn in the 22000 block of Washington Ave., Town of Dover. Deputies responded to the area and observed Kubisiak walking in-and-out of the pole barn on the south side of the property. A perimeter was immediately established, and Kubisiak was contained. The Sheriff’s Office activated the SWAT team to deal with a potentially barricaded subject.
Upon deployment of the SWAT team, Kubisiak was again seen outside of the pole barn. A team of SWAT operators made contact with Kubisiak and gave him lawful commands. Kubisiak disregarded the commands and retreated into the threshold of the pole barn. Kubisiak then armed himself with a knife and intentionally injured himself by slashing his wrists and throat. The SWAT operators took the suspect into custody and immediately provided emergency medical care.
Minutes later, rescue arrived on the scene, provided additional medical care to Kubisiak, and transported him to a local hospital. The two victims, who were already at a hospital, were treated for their serious injuries.
The investigator has been employed with Racine County for the past twenty-years, serving as a dispatcher, patrol deputy, and criminal investigator. The investigator also served 20 honorable years in the U.S. Army (Retired).
Sheriff Schmaling stated, “It is unfortunate that Kubisiak violently attacked the victims with a huge brick, but I am proud the investigator quickly responded and ended the potentially deadly confrontation. While I have requested the Kenosha Sheriff’s Office to investigate the officer-involved shooting, all of the preliminary facts indicate that the investigator was justified in discharging his firearm. I am proud of the Sheriff’s deputies who quickly located Kubisiak and contained him within the pole barn, ensuring the public was not in danger. Lastly, the SWAT operators used appropriate tactics when they confronted Kubisiak, and he chose to take his own life. I commend the quick and decisive actions of the investigator and the coordinated responses of the first arriving deputies and SWAT operators.”
