(WGTD)---A Chicago murder suspect who shot a Kenosha County deputy sheriff’s dog in the head last year is facing new charges.

34-year-old Allan Brown head-butted a Racine County Jail guard in the face, sending the corrections officer to the hospital for stitches to his lip.

At the time, guards were escorting Brown in handcuffs and leg restraints to a higher-visibility cell because he'd been threatening to kill himself. According to the criminal complaint, Brown became "resistive" and tried to pull away then lurched toward the deputy who was then injured.

In the 2021 Kenosha County incident, deputies had cornered Brown near Benson Corners. Brown was wanted in connection with two murders that had occurred earlier in the day in Chicago.

The dog was shot by Brown after he’d been released by his handler to attack the suspct. Deputies returned fire and struck Brown. Both Brown and K9 Riggs recovered. Riggs returned to duty a few months later, while Brown is sitting in the Racine jail awaiting trial.
